Welcome to San Anselmo
San Anselmo is a charming and bustling town that is located only 14 miles from the Golden Gate. In the heart of the Ross Valley, the Mediterranean climate is perfect for outdoor activity. The many parks and open spaces around town remain relatively untouched and are very popular with the about 12,000 residents that call San Anselmo their home. The downtown is very busy during the day with many boutiques, hair salons, restaurants, and a beautiful library. The annual Art and Wine festival as well as Movies in the Park are just two of the events throughout the year, as San Anselmo has a thriving community. With amazing schools in the district as well as private options, education is a priority for the residents of San Anselmo. The wonderful weather all-year round, thriving downtown area, and great location make San Anselmo popular and highly sought-after.
San Anselmo students attend one of three public elementary schools, districted according to neighborhood areas. Brookside Elementary School, located closer to Fairfax, is a public, K-5 elementary school for students in the Ross Valley School District. The school has an emphasis on social, emotional, and physical development to educate as well as inspire their students. Brookside students work together and practice teamwork skills inside and outside the classroom. Another elementary school is Hidden Valley, located in the Sleepy Hollow neighborhood.
White Hill Middle School is for grades 6-8 and has students from all of the elementary schools in the district. A California Distinguished School, White Hill has award-winning STEAM programs as well as the core classes of Math, English, History, and Science. The parent community as well as the faculty and staff of the school support the students to be successful after middle school. White Hill feeds into Sir Francis Drake High School.
Sir Francis Drake High School is a highly-regarded public high school for grades 9-12 that is located in San Anselmo. Drake uses the model of learning communities within the school to create a smaller and more inclusive learning experience. About 1,000 students at the school are enrolled in academically rigorous classes, and have electives to pursue their non-academic passions.
