Fairfax is home to a rich history as well as a family-friendly community. A hiking and biking mecca, Fairfax is surrounded by beautiful mountain trails in its location in the Ross Valley. The unique downtown has a bustling nightlife, movie theater, charming boutiques and restaurants. Fairfax, located in the distinguished Ross Valley School District, is attractive to many families because of the wonderful schools. The town has many musicians, artists, and activists as residents, and the progressive and down-to-earth culture of the town reflects that fact. The houses in Fairfax are reasonable by Marin standards, and the median house price is less than the average for Marin County as a whole. Schools:
Manor Elementary School, serving grades K-5, is located in the Oak Manor neighborhood of Fairfax. The school’s mission is to bring students and community together to enrich the lives of the students. Rigorous academics combined with character building activities allow the students at Manor to foster a love of learning.
White Hill Middle School is for grades 6-8 and has students from all of the elementary schools in the district. A California Distinguished School, White Hill has award-winning STEAM programs as well as the core classes of Math, English, History, and Science. The parent community as well as the faculty and staff of the school support the students to be successful after middle school.
Archie Williams High School is a highly-regarded public high school for grades 9-12 that is located in San Anselmo. Archie Williams uses the model of learning communities within the school to create a smaller and more inclusive learning experience. The about 1,000 students at the school are enrolled in academically rigorous classes as well as have electives to pursue their non-academic passions.
